Thank you to Nioxin for sponsoring today’s post!
A couple of weeks ago, I shared some the best styling products for postpartum hair loss and mentioned I would be sharing some simple hairstyles for busy moms using the products! One of my go-to styles when I’m in a rush or haven’t washed my hair in a few days is the good ol’ topknot. Today I’m sharing with you an Simple Top Knot Tutorial, and a fun way you can make it look a little more fun and festive for summer!
Simple Top Knot Tutorial
To begin, I’m usually working with day 3 or 4 hair. I’ve been using Nioxin’s Instant Fullness Dry Cleanser to help my hair not feel oily and to extend my wash time. I’ve found that the best top knots happen with dirty hair!
Next I gather all of my hair at the top of my head. I try to smooth out any bumps, but I also don’t make it too neat because I prefer it messy. I’ve been really loving using these coil hair ties because they don’t damage your hair or cause a crease! Plus, I really don’t need any additional hair loss when my hormones are doing enough of that.
I’ll wrap the coil hair tie around the ponytail once and then pull the hair only halfway through before wrapping it around again. Next, I simply take one side of the looped hair and connect it with the other, creating a bun. I’ll tuck pieces in here and there as I see fit, and even use bobby pins if needed to secure the bun to my head. The point is to keep it messy, though!
To upgrade the topknot a bit, I love the idea of adding a cute hair scarf! It finishes off the look and makes the topknot appear a little more sophisticated. I’m wearing this one in this post, and simply folded it to wrap it about the bun.
Last, I spray in some of the Nioxin Niospray Regular Hold Hairspray to give my topknot (and flyaways) some hold!
The hair scarf definitely adds a little flair to an overall simple top knot! If you’re experiencing postpartum hair loss (like me!), Nioxin styling products can give you the fullness and thickness your hair is missing!
